PUC Releases 2022 Sustainability Report
Sault Ste. Marie, ON (July 11, 2023) – PUC Group of Companies (PUC) has released its 2022 Sustainability Report, ‘Laying the Groundwork for Future Generations.’ The report outlines PUC’s approach to sustainability that is focused on economic development, social responsibility and environmental protection.
The report provides an overview of PUC’s activities in 2022, highlighting stories of sustainability that include:
- The Sault Smart Grid (SSG), the first community-wide smart grid in Canada that will result in shorter outages impacting fewer customers, energy savings of 2.7% on average and reduced C02 emissions.
- PUC Transmission LP, a newly formed transmission company that will supply electricity to Algoma Steel’s transformative electric arc furnace (EAF) project.
- Sault Ste. Marie’s streetlight upgrade to LED that has resulted in millions of dollars in savings and reduced C02 emissions.
- PUC’s Electric Vehicle Strategy that includes an EV Home Charger program and the electrification of PUC’s fleet.
